Starry Night

This lesson, created by Cassie Mraz, was a group project to create a famous art piece by Vincent Van Gogh, Starry Night. In this lesson we were each given a part of the Starry Night painting, we first practiced drawing the square we received then we matched our drawings together to make sure they matched up. Then we were told to paint our square so it matched with everyone else. It was a creative way to bring all our independent art works together into one art piece.

An extension activity to this lesson would be to use the same process to connect pictures to meanings. The lesson could be concerning different elements and principles of art and the student with one part of the picture would have to find the other students who has the matching puzzle pieces. Once the figure out the principle they would work together to make examples of the element and then share with the whole class.
