In order to introduce ourselves to one another, we made a footprint that had
different things that we are interested in and that are an important part of
our life. In this project we outlined our own feet on construction paper and
designed our on foot from there. One requirement was that we used three different
media, marker, crayon, color pencil, magazine, and so on, when designing our
foot. For example my foot print I first put my name and build my interest
around it, hiking, white water rafting, video games, and LEGOs are something I
put on my footprint to describe my interest. We then presented these in front
of the class and explained what each item was and how it was related to us.
This activity could also spread out into different subjects. Taking the same
concept, one could have students describe a historically person, for history,
or a character from a book, language arts or reading. The project would be
practically the same but instead of explaining their own interest they could
explain certain facts about a person or character. For example, if a student
was doing a footprint on Abraham Lincoln they could draw a log cabin or his
famous top hat. They could then be displayed around the room for the students
to learn from.
